History of Kershaw Knives
The knife industry has evolved over the past 50 years, but Kershaw has remained steadfast in its commitment to quality and craftsmanship. Founded by Pete Kershaw, an avid outdoorsman, Kershaw began in 1974 in Lake Oswego, Oregon. Around this time, Kai, a Japanese company with a long history in crafting fine blades, was expanding internationally. Kershaw and Kai joined forces, merging Pete’s quality-focused vision with Kai’s experience in bladed tools, creating a partnership that has endured for decades.

The 1990s marked a new chapter for Kershaw, introducing innovative features like the first liner lock knives in the Liner Action series. With Kai CEO Koji Endo’s support, Kershaw established a USA manufacturing facility to expand production and innovation.
